I have known you for so long
that it seems many a lifetime;

Of the first beautiful faces I looked upon
Of few warm embraces I found shelter in;

Always there, in every little memory, every corner
through laughter & tears, tragedies and glories;

In happier times for us, you were happiest
In our time of sorrow, saddest one of all;

To feel and care so selflessly for us
To offer us, always, your unconditional love;

At times a mother, at times a sister
At times a friend, on few occasions an aunt!

To believe in us constantly, when all faith was lost,
To soothe the pains, when no one even heard us;

Enjoying our joys, not trying to share it with us
Always an abundance of love, no ors, ifs and buts;

Modest and earthly, but not superficially humble
Of traditions and values, but not old fashioned;

Always "Avant-Guard", bravely forward-looking
But not of "Band-Wagons" or pretentious or overbearing;

Always decisive and firm, not stubborn and rigid
Never buying new friends fast, never selling old ones easy;

I believe that you are blessed with a gift of god
That's why I am always close-by, always around
