Iranians who lost their lives in September 11th Disasters

Back

We now know of at least two Iranians who lost their lives in the September 11th disasters.

Mrs. Tooran Bloorchi, the wife of Dr. Akbar Bloorchi of Los Angeles, was in the plane that hit the second tower of the World Trade Center.  She was going back to L.A. after a two week trip visit with her daughter who was living with family in Boston.  Mrs. Bloorchi is survived by her husband and two daughters, Neda and Roya.  A commemoration was held for Mrs. Bloorchi in L.A. last week.  Hundreds of family and friends participated in her memorial service.  Mrs. Bloorchi was a refined, educated, kind and loving lady.  She will sure be missed by all those who knew her personally and will be remembered by many who just came to know about her tragic end.

Mr. Hussein Mahmoodi, 36 of New Jersey., an ex-pilot and employee of United Airlines, was traveling as a passenger on board United Airlines flight 93.  He tragically lost his life after the plane crashed in Pennsylvania.  He was apparently one of the brave passengers who fought with the hijackers in the cockpit.  Mr. Mahmoodi was married and had a six year-old daughter.  His wife is expecting their first son.  Mr. Mahmoodi is considered a hero for his valiant courage to de-route the plane that was targeting the White House.

Amidst all the chaos on the second day of the disaster, a sub-title on some of the network channels worth mentioning attracted little attention.  Yet the details never actually came out.  The sub-title read that an Iranian imprisoned in Hamburg, Germany for immigration violations had tried to warn the White House of the terrorist threats.  Just a few days before these tragic incidents, he telephoned the White House security trying to tell them about the planned attacks but was unfortunately not taken seriously.
