The Assassin movement, called the "new propaganda" by its members, was inaugurated by al-Hasan ibn-al-Sabbah (died in 1124), probably a Persian from Tus, who claimed descent from the Himyarite kings of South Arabia. The motives were evidently personal ambition and desire for vengeance on the part of the heresiarch. (Full Text)
Whatever needed to be said about the September 11th tragic event has already been said. People are still pouring their hearts out. While all feel a sense of profound sadness and sympathy for the innocent victims, most are trying to find out the root of a horrendous action such as this, committed by humans against humans--at the expense of their own lives. The English name for our language is Persian. Yet because of our blind patriotism or lack of unity, we have confused the people in the West by imposing the word Farsi which in reality is not even Persian but the Arabic name for our language. If we want to insist on educating westerners then we should seek a change to the proper Persian name for our language which is Parsi. As others have pointed out when conversing in English we do not ask someone if they speak ãDeutschä when we are enquiring whether they speak German. (Full Text) =============================
Viewing the exhibition of 88 contemporary paintings entitled ãA Breeze from the Gardens of Persiaä at Meridian International Center in Washington, D.C., April 27 through July 15, 2001, I found to my disappointment that nearly all lacked the quality of vision that museum-goers in a democracy customarily expect. Kalileh and Demneh is one of classic Persian literary masterpieces. It is mainly a translation of an Indian book, Penchatentra (which means five chapters) written in Sanskrit and published some 1500 years ago. It also includes chapters form an Indian national epic book, Mahabahrata. (Full Text)

Rozaneh was my only source of information about home and my sole means of connecting to home.
