« Andrea Bocelli has a wonderful voice with beautiful timbre ».
Rodolfo Celletti, Italy’s foremost vocal coach writing in L’Expresso, 1995.

« Dear Zucchero, sing your song « Miserere » with Andrea Bocelli since there is nobody better than him ».
Luciano Pavarotti introducing Andrea Bocelli at the Pavarotti International, 1995.

Since being discovered by Zucchero Fornaciari in 1992, Andrea Bocelli has quickly established himself as one of the world’s most exciting tenor voices. He, and the public, have discovered that he has the ability to interpret all forms of music, from ballads to operatic arias, with consummate ease. His blindness does not hinder his natural talent that allows him to break down barriers which might inhibit other performers.

Andrea’s voice has not only incredible naturalness and intensity, but also maturity beyond his 37 years. These characteristics were what first attracted Zucchero to invite Andrea to take part in the creation of « Miserere » in 1992, the international hit song eventually released featuring Luciano Pavarotti. In 1993, he accompanied Zucchero on his European tour and received standing ovations for his solo rendition of « Nessum Dorma ». His debut at the San Remo Music Festival was a tremendous success where he achieved the highest marks ever recorded for a new artist with his performance of « Il mare calmo della sera ».

In September 1994, Andrea Bocelli was personally invited by Luciano Pavarotti to guest star in the Pavarotti International in Modena. He performed on his own and in duet with Luciano Pavarotti as well as appearing with Bryan Adams, Andreas Vollenveider, Nancy Gustavsson and Giorgia.

Andrea Bocelli has a tremendous reputation in the classical world. He has performed in operas and concert recitals, equally at home being accompanied by piano as well as full orchestra. He has appeared in many of the world’s leading venues and festivals including performing in front of the Pope on Christmas Eve 1994.

In November 1995, he toured Holland, Belgium, Germany, Spain and France with « Night of the Proms ». He shared the stage with Al Jarreau, Bryan Ferry, Roger Hodgson from Supertramp and John Miles as well as a full symphony orchestra and chorus. More than 450 000 people saw these live concerts and as a direct result, Andrea’s first two records « ANDREA BOCELLI » and « BOCELLI » entered the Belgium, Dutch and German charts where they have remained.

Andrea Bocelli’s third album « VIAGGIO ITALIANO » has so far only been released in Italy where it has already sold over 300 000 copies. The record is a mixture of famous arias and traditional songs from Naples and is a tribute to all immigrants of the world. It will be released in all major european and other international markets to coincide with a concert tour, supported by extensive TV and media exposure, throughout 1996.

Al Jarreau, when asked to describe performing with Andrea Bocelli on « Night of the Proms », simply replied: « I have the honour to sing with the most beautiful voice in the world ».
