September 29, 2001 - The Bahraini princess who made headlines by eloping to the United States with an American Marine in 1999 has reportedly left
her husband and returned to Bahrain. According to published reports, Meriam Al Khalifa Johnson's family feared for her safety because of prejudice
in the U.S. against people of Middle Eastern descent after the September 11 terrorist attacks. The princess reportedly told friends that she and her
husband, ex-Marine Jason Johnson, argued because he did not want to quit college and get a job. The princess is said to be considering divorce.
Jason Johnson is quoted as saying, "I love my wife deeply. This is a surprise to us all.

Festive Food for Vegetarians

Looking for some vegetarian alternatives to turkey and ham this holiday season? Instead of sprucing up vegetable standards like potatoes and squash, try cooking more extravagant dishes like galettes (savory flat pies) made with wild mushrooms, suggest chef Deborah Madison.   "A risotto gratin made with real cream will be the most special dish on the table," she says. Madison also recommends planning meals so that you "consider what's special to you in making celebratory foods." Some of her favorites include green lentils with wine-glazed vegetables and celery-root and apple salad with mustard vinaigrette.

Immune Boosters

to ward off colds and flu this season, bolster your immune system with these tips from Carl J. Charnetski and Francis X. Brennan's Feeling Good is Good for you.

Watch (and wash)those hands. Wash your hands frequently with lots of sudsy warm water and keep them away from your mouth, eyes and nose - three favorite entry points for viruses and bacteria.

Talk to The Animals. Look into your pet's eyes - you will see a direct connection and a hint of understanding. share your worries and fears, and you will end up feeling much better, psychologically and immunologically.

Keep Your Connections. studies show that people with faith in God who attend services regularly recover faster from illness. If you have lost touch with your place of worship, it's a good idea to try to reconnect. It may provide you with some overarching meaning in your life, improve your network of support and help you meet other people - all good things for immunity.

Hassle-free holiday travel

Traveling during the holidays this year? Need to renew a prescription? Instead of wasting time (and money) on the phone trying to get through to your doctor's office, contact your physician online through the new www.MDhub.com. The Web site acts as a network of "MessageCenters" for 400,000 doctors across the country, allowing patients to send nonurgent messages through the site's server. Once your message is sent, MDhub.com forwards it to your doctor or delivers it by fax if the medical practice doesn't have Internet access. (don't try it if you need a response within 48 hours.) A free service of the National Physicians DataSource, MDhub.com requires no registration for the doctor or the patient
